Newsletter Frequency
At a recent Club Committee it was decided to reduce the frequency of the the Clubs' newsletter. This was due to the fact that despite numerous requests for information, bits and pieces and other tidbits for inclusion into the newsletter nothing has been forthcoming. On the occasions that enough news comes to hand, or a special event is being planned, a newsletter will be issued.
Your Details
We have had several posted newsletters returned to the club due to incorrect addresses. If you move residence please 17 inform either bar staff, the president or the secretary. Just a small note with name and new address with suffice. Along these lines if any of you know the address of Mike Bentley and anyone else who is a member and moved forgetting to inform the club, could you please also let the club know
Sports
At a recent meeting of the Club Committee it was decided to group various aspects of club life together with one person looking after each. Tom has agreed to be the person looking after the sports section. with the exception of the club Darts Team, who have their own tournaments. If any of you have ideas for sports games, e.g. pool games, darts, cricket, bowls etc, drop Tom a line via suggestion box or see him at the club. Now that daylight saving is here the scope for outside activates grows.
While Tom has the sports the raffles fall under the watchful eye of Glenda. She will be running the weekly raffles as well as all the other raffles than are seen at he club. If anyone of you have any ideas that you would like to see as raffle prizes, big or small, see Glenda or you can contact her through the suggestion box as well.
Handle Club
One for all you new members and a reminder for you others. As well as belonging to the club members also have the opportunity to join the Handle Club. This entitles the member to have their own handle which is slightly larger than the normal sized handle. Every Sunday night is handle club night. This includes the handle club draw when a lucky handle club members’ number is drawn.. This number is different from your club number, The winner of this receives a bar tab, unfortunately we can’t give it as a cash prize, which jackpots to a grand total of $60.00. The member must be present to win For more details enquire at the bar.
Suggestion Box
The writer has been asked to include in this newsletter a request for members to please use the suggestion box. Don’t forget the committee members are there to socialise just as much as you are and don’t want to be badgered all the time about stuff that can be put into the suggestion box and talked about at a later date.
The suggestion box can also be used for any notices for inclusion in the newsletter. These can include notices for services wanted, stuff for sale or wanted to buy. If you want to dob in someone's birthday that also fine, but these might not get printed unless the person concerned is ok with it.
Water Problems
As you can see whenever you come down to the club that the outside water problem has now been rectified. This included the replacement of the stormwater pump, which had burnt out. The pipes were also cleaned out, the finding of about 1,000 pairs of old school socks down there might explain why they were blocked. The system is now functioning correctly and the Manawatu Council have assured us that they will be keeping an eye on the system and will be responsible for it’s upkeep from now until forever.
Bar Increases
Unfortunately the club has had to look at increasing some of our bar prices. This is due to increases being passes onto us by our suppliers and the government with their tax increases. These increases were
.passed onto us several months ago but at this stage we have not passes them on to you our members. While we are trying to hold prices down as much as possible some prices will have to increases to cover these rises.
